Day 1

Welcome to Edinburgh! On arrival at the airport you will be met by your guide and transferred to the city centre. Edinburgh is a cosmopolitan capital city boasting a Mediaeval Old Town and an elegant 18th century New Town. During a panoramic tour, a Bagpiper will meet you en route, offer you a dram of whisky and give you a tune!

A healthy walk will take you to the top of Arthur’s Seat, the extinct volcano overlooking the city, where a butler will serve a gourmet picnic lunch.  Later you will get a taste of the British Royal Family’s lifestyle with a visit aboard the former Royal Yacht Britannia.   You may be surprised by a Queen “Look-alike” walking her corgis!

Check into your hotel, a deluxe property in a beautiful Georgian building in the heart of the city centre.  Tonight try your hand at old-fashioned skittles followed by a relaxed dinner at Edinburgh’s oldest inn, in the picturesque conservation village of Duddingston.

Day 2

A day in the Royal Kingdom of Fife is in store beginning with St. Andrews, the home of golf.  You may wish to play a round or simply explore this pleasant sea-side town. Enjoy a cookery demonstration followed by a tasty lunch in the rustic and cosy surroundings of Scotland’s Larder. This afternoon visit beautiful Falkland Palace, once a preferred residence for Mary Queen of Scots.  A falconry display will take place in the grounds and those who dare can handle these impressive Birds of Prey themselves.

This evening will be spent appreciating our national drink. At the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, housed in a 14th century wine warehouse in Leith, you will be treated to a tutored whisky tasting followed by a dinner featuring dishes enhanced by a soupçon of whisky….!

Day 3

Today will be spent in the Trossachs, one of our most scenic areas with its many mountains and lochs.  On the shores of Loch Ard participate in a treasure hunt challenge retracing Rob Roy’s steps. The losers have to cook a barbecue lunch for the rest of the group! At nearby Loch Katrine the choice is yours; a relaxing cruise on board a traditional steamship, or for the more energetic a cycle along the loch shores on mountain bikes.

Tonight you get the chance to select the style and cuisine of your dining venue with a Dine-Around evening featuring a range of Edinburgh’s top restaurants.

Day 4

In the picturesque surroundings of the Scottish Borders you can fulfil a lifetime ambition - driving through quiet country roads in an open top British Classic Car.  Each couple can choose from a range including Jaguars, Morgans and MGs, and your route is mapped out to include a visit to the majestic Floors Castle, and lunch at a country house hotel.

Your finale evening will be spent at a 14th century Castle near Edinburgh.  A delicious Scottish banquet will be served with entertainment being provided by the local Clan!   Dressed in authentic plaid as if from a scene in Braveheart, their performance is enriched with music and song from the Highlands of Scotland.  The entertainment will include the Bagpipes, folk music, a battle re-enactment, and even some Highland dancing!

Day 5

Departures.  As we say in Scotland, Haste Ye Back (= come back soon!)
